Thanks for this super interesting and highly informative take on a really important topic. Here's my take: The Banality of Being Wrong (https://harriettjanetos.substack.com/p/the-banality-of-being-wrong-truth?r=5spuf)

Might it help if these policy makers are forced to teach at a primary school in a disadavantaged area for a week to see what the impact is of their policies? Unfortunately, with the hierarchical systems that have expanded in the last decades, the top is getting further and further removed from the teachers who have to deal with the consequences of the bad educational policies. Small scale education where policy makers have less of a stronghold on curriculum and teaching methodology, which will empower the teacher seems like a way forward.

'when the costs of being wrong fall elsewhere, error can persist indefinitely.'

Of course, the academics, policymakers, and consultants promoting such theories suffered no personal consequences; those costs were paid in full by the most vulnerable and disadvantaged students.

This is why there is no real discussion on social media. Any question that cannot be answered results in blocking. I have been blocked by many since 2010. For what? For saying that phonological awareness deficit cannot be the cause of dyslexia. Why did I say that ? Because all my certified dyslexic students could read in Malay. It is therefore common sense. But it took me 6 years before that theory was finally debunked.

If PAD is not the cause why are many kids unable to read? I have given the answer but again blocked by so-called educators.

I also said, in as early as 2016 that reading is an innate ability. We can disagree but why block.

If blocking has a consequence will these educators block me when they don't agree/understand?

Who is paying the price because of the arrogance of these educators?
